WSPLC will bring together academia and industry professionals as well as students and researchers to present and discuss ongoing work on existing and future power line communication (PLC) systems, PLC applications, PLC standardization activities with emphasis, but not limited, to:

  • PLC channel characterisation and modelling
  • Physical layer aspects
  • MAC and network layer aspects
  • Measurements and modelling
  • PLC standards
  • PLC requirements, coexistence, interoperability
  • Test and characterization
  • System architectures integrating PLC
  • Emerging PLC-related technologies
  • Performance measurements and comparability of field trials
  • PLC integration with electric grid assets
  • Experience from PLC roll-outs
  • PLC applications: distribution grid, in-home, in-vehicle, industrial
  • Electromagnetic compatibility and interference
  • Cybersecurity in PLC

Contributions in the areas of communications and data management in smart grids related to PLC technologies integration into future energy grids are also welcome.

Prospective authors are encouraged to submit an extended abstract up to two pages in PDF Portable Document Format. The extended abstract should include all information necessary to allow the reviewers to assess the contribution. All submitted contributions will be peer-reviewed for their quality, correctness, originality and relevance.

The deadline for the abstract submission is 5 July, 2018.

Abstract submissions have to be sent via e-mail to the chairs: wsplc2018@fe.uni-lj.si. The e-mail must include in the subject line the text: Abstract submission to WSPLC 2018. The e-mail must also include the contact author information. The submissions will be notified upon e-mail reception.

The authors of accepted abstracts are requested to present their work at the workshop. The authors will be required to submit:

  • the final extended abstract or a short paper;
  • the presentation slides.

These will be uploaded and made avaialable in the workshop web site. They will also be included in the archive of publications on Power Line Communications and related issues accessible from PLC DocSearch.

Authors of accepted abstract may also prepare a final short paper. The short paper should include a synthetic description of the presentation offered at the workshop detailing the main problem addressed, solution, results and bibliography. The recommended length for the final short paper is up to 4 pages.

The paper must be in single column format as detailed in the template files, with single spaced lines, and times new roman font with size 10 pt. The paper has also to be converted in .PDF format embedding all fonts. The size of the file must not exceed 5 MB. Templates are available below.

At least one author of each accepted abstract is kindly requested to register before July 31, 2018 to have the paper included in the WSPLC proceedings.

The deadline for the final submission of the final abstract or short paper is September 6, 2018. The deadline for the final submission of the presentation slides is September 6, 2018.

The material has to be sent via e-mail to the chairs, e-mail: wsplc2018 at fe.uni-lj.si. The e-mail must include in the subject line the text: Final WSPLC2018 Paper.

The short papers will not be copyrighted which will allow further publication elsewhere with the appropriate extension.

The short papers will be freely downloadable from the workshop web site to allow high dissemination of the research results. They will also be included in the archive of publications on Power Line Communications and related issues accessible from PLC DocSearch

Templates for Abstract and Final Short Paper

Submissions must be in PDF format with all fonts embedded. To help in the preparation of the abstract and short paper, below please find and use the MS Word and Latex template files. The size of the file must not exceed 5 MB

The paper must be in single column format as detailed in the template files, with single spaced lines, and time new roman font size 10 pt. Do not add page numbers.
